The exterior of an early Visa might not look very interesting but these have one of the weirdest dashboards ever fitted in to a mass market car.

All controls except a couple of ventilation valves, the gear lever and the handb ra ke can be seen through the steering wheel. The steering wheel is one spoked ( like most of the Citroën wheels) and it doesn’t even have the horn button. The steering column doesn’t have any stalks and even the direction indicators are controlled by a (non-resetting ) rocker switch. In the sporty GT model a tachometer replaces the clock and in the ch eape st models you only get a “ Ci troë n” text.

Unfortunately the dash was “normalized” during the facelift and it lost most of the weird controls.

It’s definitely a cool car. That big drum with all  the switches is pretty wacky! Having the one-spoke steering wheel definitely opens up possibilities for consolidating switches and lights.
